Carol attended the Governors Magnet School for the Arts in high school. This program included studies in ballet, jazz, and modern as well as dance history, music in dance, and anatomy for the dancer. During high school, Carol also twirled with a dance twirl team out of Hampton, VA. She competed with the team and as a solo twirler throughout state then in the National and World Championships at the University of Notre Dame. After high school, Carol attended the College of William and Mary where she majored in Economics and minored in dance through the Kinesiology department. Course work included dance technique, choreography (dance composition), dance history, problems in dance, and nutrition. She was a choreographer and dancer for 3 years in the college performing dance company, Orchesis. Carol started the Contemporary School of Dance in 1999.

Elaine Fenters

Instructor, Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced Tap, Jazz, and Ballet Class

Elaine Fenters will teach some of our advance tap students. Elaine graduated from Coastal Carolina University with a B.A. in Natural and Applied Sciences. She has 20 years of dance experience, which include studying with Gene Murray of Salem, MA, a Broadway dancer in the cast of "Guys and Dolls" and a June Taylor dancer. Elaine was also a member of the Gene Murray Dancers and participated in various performances. She has a well-rounded education in all the disciplines of dance and has taken lessons with many other professional teachers in New York. Elaine is originally from Swampscott, MA, just outside of Boston. Prior to moving to Franklin, Elaine lived in South Carolina. We are very excited to have Elaine teach our Advance Tap classes again this fall.
